Our mission is to foster a collaborative environment where students from all academic disciplines are empowered to master the skills of writing, editing, and legal research, thereby transforming their diverse perspectives into cohesive, compelling arguments and analyses. UTDULR is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and strives to produce high-quality content that enriches the discourse on critical legal and policy issues.

Our Leadership

Skandha Gopinath - President

Skandha is a senior majoring in Cognitive Science with a minor in Philosophy at The University of Texas at Dallas. He has written on computer encryption and privacy law for the inaugural volume of the UTD Undergraduate Law Review, and as a Managing Editor, oversaw the development of papers across a range of legal disciplines. At Secretariat Advisors, he worked alongside expert witnesses to investigate technological disputes in support of complex litigation, and with the UTD Office of Institutional Compliance, he supported Title IX training and awareness initiatives. Beyond his involvement in the Law Review, Skandha is a Captain on the UTD Mock Trial Team and the Vice President of the South Asian Pre-Law Student Association. As Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review, Skandha oversees the organization's editorial standards, curriculum, and overall direction, working to create a platform for high-quality undergraduate scholarship and a center for cultivating rigorous legal writing and critical thinking skills.

Joann Aricat - Vice President

Joann is a senior majoring in Political Science and minoring in Business Administration at The University of Texas at Dallas. She is on the pre-law track, inspired by her involvement in various organizations at UTD and her part-time job at a family law firm. Joann previously served as the Operations Director of UTD's Undergraduate Law Review during the 2025-2026 school year, where she contributed to the organization's mission through event oversight and administrative support. She is also captain of UTD's nationally ranked Mock Trial team and a member of the Richardson Mayor's Advisory Council, where she continues to hone her public speaking skills and passion for public policy. As Vice President of UTD's Undergraduate Law Review, Joann strives to provide more opportunities to students interested in the legal field and to foster a collaborative, responsible, and adaptable community. She is responsible for overseeing administrative responsibilities within the editorial board and spearheading new initiatives to foster the growth of the organization.
